The Maldives grants a free 30‑day tourist visa on arrival to all nationalities. The local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but US dollars are widely accepted. The capital, Malé, is one of the world’s most densely populated cities. The climate is tropical, warm year‑round, with an average temperature of 28°C (82°F). The dry northeast monsoon runs from November to April, while the wet southwest monsoon lasts from May to October.
